The best time to get pregnant
- by Milos Pesic

The best time for a woman to get pregnant is the time that is best for her. Most likely you have received a lot of advice over the years about the best time to get pregnant. Some people have told you that the best time to get pregnant is when you are young, because you have more energy during pregnancy and the labor is easier. Some people have told you that the best time to get pregnant is in your thirties, because you will already be established in your career and your relationship and will have more time and financial resources to be a good parent.

Unsolicited advice aside, the truth is that the best time to get pregnant is different for every woman. If you look around you, there are all different women in all different stages of life having babies. Some women have babies very early in life and are very good mothers. Some women have one child at age thirty-five and feel that that was exactly what they wanted. Some women do not want to have children of their own at all.

Pretty much the only factor that restricts you when choosing the best time to get pregnant is the biological limit set on your reproductive years. Unfortunately, even if you think the best time for you to get pregnant would be when you are seventy-five years old, this is unlikely to work out well for you. If this is your plan, plan instead to become a foster or adoptive parent at this age. Unless major medical advances are made between now and when you become a senior citizen, this is never going to be the best time to get pregnant!

Ideally, the best biological time to get pregnant is between twenty-five and thirty-five years of age. Studies show that women in this age group have the best chance of a healthy pregnancy, labor, and delivery. After age thirty-five and earlier than four years after the start of menstruation, the rate of complications goes up. If you are in your late thirties or early forties, your risk of complications and some birth defects is higher, but this does not mean that you cannot deliver a healthy baby. Plenty of women have delivered at this age.

If you feel that now is the best time for you to get pregnant, no matter what your age, see your doctor to ask for suggestions to optimize your chances for a successful, healthy pregnancy. Preparation, prenatal vitamins, and early obstetrical care can make the difference in your pregnancy. The best time to get pregnant is not universal, but rather, individual. Ask yourself, “when is my best time to get pregnant?” and then listen to your own answer!

Male Fertility and Exercise
- by Ian Jefferson

Is it really a cliché that a man likes to feel in control of things? Maybe stating such a fact could be considered stereotyping, but the truth of the matter is that many men feel empowered when they are in control.

For couples having trouble conceiving, most of the focus shifts to the woman. She must not be able to get pregnant, right? Something must be wrong with her body. Her body isn't doing what it is supposed to do, right? So, what happens when that theory is wrong?

Many times, infertility is due to the male in the relationship. Maybe he has an exceptionally low sperm count? Maybe he has sperm that are not very motile? Maybe he is sterile? Whatever the reason, couples need to realize that the problem does not always rest on the shoulders of the female in a relationship.

If a male finds that he has a low sperm count that is affecting his partner's chances of becoming pregnant, there are things he can do to help boost his chances of helping her to conceive. Low sperm count does not mean fertilization is impossible.

The first thing that a man needs to remember is that he should not feel like any less of a man because he is not quite as fertile as some men are. It has nothing to do with his masculinity and should not be looked down upon as a weakness. In fact, more males than you think have problems with fertility. The number is very close to the number of women experiencing fertility challenges.

Exercise is a great way to contribute to better sperm count and increase a male's fertility. Incorporating a moderate amount of exercise into a male's routine has been shown to help improve male fertility. It is important that you speak with your physician. Inquire about how much exercise and which types of exercise would most benefit you. You want to ensure that you are focusing on the right type of exercises to promote both better fertility and a generally healthier you.

In the case of exercise to boost fertility, too much of a good thing actually does exist. Although moderate exercise can be a great thing, overextending yourself through strenuous workout routines can actually have the opposite effect. Studies have proven that extreme exercise can actually deplete the male sperm count. What may seem healthy on the surface could actually lower your chances of bringing a child into the world.

When it comes to exercise and fertility, males need to realize that moderation is best. While a little bit can go a long way, too much really can decrease your chances of conceiving a child. Incorporate exercise into your daily routine, but do so sensibly. If you are not sure what is a healthy routine, talk with your doctor. He can best advise you on an exercise plan catered toward your lifestyle and medical history. Take a proactive role in improving your chances of conception. It's always worthwhile exploring every natural option before talking to your doctor about alternate avenues that can be expensive or emotionally draining.

Female Infertility

Female infertility is a difficult issue for any woman who faces it. Your friends and family members all seem to try to help you out, but they just make things worse. You know what to do, it just doesn’t seem to be working for you and your partner. Female infertility puts a big kink in the whole birds and the bees story. It sounds so easy, but for you that has not been your experience.

In infertile couples that undergo testing to determine the cause of their infertility, about 30% of the couples will discover that the problem is female infertility. Another 30% will discover that the problem is male infertility. The other 40% will have fertility problems stemming from the combination of their bodies’ functioning, or from unknown causes. Unknown causes may be even more frustrating that discovering female or male infertility, because the doctor says that there is nothing that looks out of the ordinary.

Female infertility can be very psychologically taxing. Often there are issues of guilt, anger, and frustration that are difficult for a couple to work through by themselves. Try to discuss your feelings, hopes, fears, and dreams with your partner openly. It helps to talk about important things at a low-stress time when you can both focus on each other. If you feel that you are beginning to have communication problems between you or other members of your family, try to find a counselor that you can talk to. Your employer may have an Employee Assistance Hotline that you can call, or maybe you can find someone in the phone book or through your place of worship. It is important to address your feelings and frustrations so that you can overcome the obstacles that have been presented to you.

You and your partner may decide to opt for treatments for female infertility if you would like to bear a biological child. There are many options available these days. Consult with your primary doctor and then a fertility specialist to see which options are the most appropriate in your case. Many of the causes of female infertility are treatable. There is hope! You and your partner may also consider other options, such as adoption or foster care of children.

Weigh your options carefully to decide on the option that is best for you as a couple. A counselor is able to help you to make plans for the next step in dealing with your female infertility, whether those plans be to wait and see what happens, to pursue female infertility treatments, to adopt a child, or something else. It is up to you to decide what is best; take your time and take care of yourself during the process.

Female Infertility Treatment Options
- by Susan Smith

It is not just men who have to worry about being infertile, women also suffer from it and it really can be heartbreaking. There are various reasons why the problem can occur, though all of them are just as devastating for the affected women. Why the Problem OccursFemale infertility is diagnosed when a woman has been trying to become pregnant for over a year. It occurs when the egg fails to be released. There are two types of infertility in women; primary infertility, which is when a woman cannot get pregnant naturally for over a year. Secondary infertility, which occurs when a woman can get pregnant, but suffers constant miscarriages. Some other common causes include:*The DietWomen who eat unhealthily can often have problems conceiving. A healthy, nutritious diet is more likely to result in pregnancy than one that is packed full of junk food. Our diet really does affect every single part of our body, including the reproductive system!*Your WeightThis could be linked to your diet and if you are overweight, you have a lot less chance of becoming pregnant than an average weight person. Similarly, if you are underweight you will also suffer big problems getting pregnant and even if you do, you may not have the right nutrients to help the baby to develop inside the womb. So, in order to have the best chance of getting pregnant you really do need to check that you are at a healthy weight.*Excessive StressIf you are constantly stressed, you have absolutely no chance of becoming pregnant. Stress affects every part of your body and it is said to even take years off your own life if you constantly stress about everything. So, if you do have a stressful job or a particularly stressful life, then it would be better to find a hobby or something that relaxes you.Above are only a few of the reasons why a woman may become infertile. A medical condition that may cause infertility includes damaged fallopian tubes that have been caused by an infection in the body.So are there any treatments available that may help? Luckily there are certain things you can try in order to improve your chances of conception. It is mainly just a matter of trial and error! The Various Treatment Options AvailableIf you are having infertility problems, the best place you could possibly go is to a female infertility treatment center. There are several around the country where women can get help with their problems and they can find out about any solutions that may be available to them. There are some surgeries that can help with infertility problems, including a laparotomy microsurgery. Basically, this is where a microscope is used to perform the reproductive operation. This can be used for people with endometriosis and it can also help to fix fallopian tubes or remove any scar tissue that may be present. The downfall for this treatment is that it is a little bit more invasive than some other treatment options available. However, it is generally a very good treatment option for women with fertility problems. If your problem is down to your weight or your diet, simple lifestyle changes such as cutting down on your food intake and exercising regularly may help considerably.Overall, there really are so many different options available to you if you do have any problems with infertility. It is always better to consult a professional so that your problem can be properly diagnosed. Remember that it takes roughly one year to become pregnant sometimes, so you may not have a problem if you have only been trying for under a year to get pregnant.

Personal ovulation calendar

Understanding menstrual cycle is important if you want to chart fertility patterns, predict ovulation, and increase your chances of becoming pregnant or avoid unwanted pregnancy. During menstrual cycle, there are far more infertile days than fertile days. The fertile days are days when there is a possibility for conceiving. However, within fertile period - the window of opportunity for conception - there are days of "peak fertility". Identifying these peak times, and planning accordingly, can help maximize or minimize chances of becoming pregnant. Typically, ovulation takes place about 14 days after the beginning of a woman's menstrual cycle. There are different ways to calculate ovulation. The easiest way is to use an ovulation calendar to calculate the time of ovulation within cycle by subtracting the length of luteal phase from the length of cycle.
